Welcome

My name is Ivan Maria Friedman. I am a photographer, cinematographer, filmmaker, classical musician.

Questions about the nature of life, of consciousness, of what lies beneath the surface of things, have shaped my way of seeing the world since a young age.

Art became a natural extension of this inner inquiry. Music first—which helped me express what could not be spoken. Later, photography and film-making, each offering new ways to contemplate, frame, and translate what I perceive.

I became very interested by the possibility of bringing these forms together, applying the formal principles of one medium to another—a way to explore life from multiple perspectives, and cultivate that which I find so fascinating in this living experience.

What is it that which we call life? What is this experience of being here and now? What is this magnificent cosmic play all about?

Art, in all its forms, is a way of staying close to the questions that move me—through light and shadow, movement and stillness, sound and silence.
